Sustainability and competitiveness have for years been key concepts guiding policy in Italy and the European Union across all sectors of the economy, with an ever-closer link being forged between environmental policies and those aimed at each productive sector. The balance between the various requirements is the key issue. All the more so in the current context of geopolitical shifts, which began with the war in Ukraine, continued with the introduction of protectionist trade policies by the United States, and have been accelerated by the war in the Middle East: all factors that heighten the need to achieve autonomy and ensure security—in the broadest sense of the term—at both national and European level.
Against this backdrop, the Connact Sustainability and Competitiveness event represents an important opportunity for discussion, during which representatives from the organisations and companies promoting the Connact system will engage in dialogue with the Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, to discuss the initiatives the government is pursuing in Italy and across Europe to ensure the competitiveness of the production system, while simultaneously pursuing the objectives of environmental sustainability.
