Following the establishment of close cooperation between the Mattei Plan and the European Union’s Global Gateway, formalised by the Italian government and the European Commission at the summit with the African Union on 20 June 2025 in Rome, what is the overall assessment regarding cooperation between Europe and Africa? How has the private sector responded to the push by public institutions to strengthen it?
The 2026 edition of “Connact Piano Mattei – New Energies between Europe and Africa” will provide an opportunity to meet and discuss the progress and future developments of the policies promoted by Italy and the EU to strengthen cooperation between the two continents.
The institutional speeches that will open the event will focus on this topic. This will be followed by a networking dinner, at which the organisations and companies sponsoring Connact will meet diplomatic representatives from African countries and Italian institutions. The aim is to foster dialogue in order to identify new areas for investment and create opportunities for developing economic and social relations on energy, defence, security, technological development and climate change mitigation.
